Today is World Bee Day !
Yep, I never knew that, either ! “Bee Day” ?? Why ??
Beecause (sorry, couldn’t resist!) bees are very important to our food chain and survival.
You’ve heard the phrase “busy as a bee” and that’s really an understatement. Those little guys and gals do nothing but work, reproduce, die, and their offspring repeat the perpetual cycle.
That is, until unintentionally we begin slowly killing them off with pesticides and destroying the habitat they require to survive.
At our office, we are striving to do our part with naturalized habitat, indigenous flowers, and we are going to put up bee houses, like Dan Chiles’ company makes: Beestra.
Our natural landscape is beginning to get established; it takes several seasons for the good plants to crowd out the bad weeds. Here a are a few pictures of what is beginning to bloom, and we look forward to a wide array of species, colors, and styles throughout the summer months. (pics to follow, on my phone)
So, please take 10 minutes and read up a bit about how important bees are to us and how you can make little changes in your own world to help make our entire world a much better place.
