Brian and Chad share their Motorcycle Safety Tips
This video was shot at last May’s Motorcycle Awareness Ride!
This is all about awareness and safety, have either of you had any close calls?
Oh, I think we have a close call every time we go out. Texting, pulling out in front of you, on the telephone. They don’t look, they don’t care. I had one with my son on the back, car pulled out in front of us. I was able to put it between a median and another car, but I kept it upright. But, yeah, sometimes they look at us, but they pull out anyway.
On the sad note, have you had friends that weren’t quite so lucky?
Very many over the last three or four years, probably around… Too many! Five or six.
If you just had two or three sentences, what would you tell car and truck drivers that don’t ride what they need to do to make it safer for everybody?
Brian: Just drive your vehicle. It’s not a phone booth. You’re not that important to be picking a text up and killing somebody else.
Chad: We don’t have anything around us, we don’t have any protection. So we watch out for you guys because we expect you to pull out in front of us. But please don’t, put the phone down and just drive.
Brian: I’ve drove a truck for the last 20 years, so I do Smith Training, all kinds of stuff. So, you know, I’m looking three, four blocks in front of me, you know. So, you just gotta watch them because they’re not watching.
