Northbound Route 65 OPEN to traffic between Route 60 (James River Freeway) and Sunshine Street in Springfield
six days ahead of schedule
Even greater importance: it was all done without any serious injuries or deaths from crashes which often take the lives of workers or members of our community, so *safety* is a critical factor in this operation; the trade off the planners faced was keeping one lane open during the work which provides *some* but not sufficient vehicle flow and avoids detours, but greatly increases the risk of injury or death to workers or travelers; so they decided to bite the big bullet and do it right; a full closure is more of a pain, but for a short duration, and actually allows the workers to do their jobs much better and more efficiently for a higher quality finished product, which should last us another 30 or 40 years, and I hope you and I are around to see it use that long !! So, thanks to everyone in our community for your patience and understanding while MoDOT, our city and our county officials and other agencies and private contractors teamed up, planned ahead, and put aside the political correctness of trying to keep the public happy, and did this one right, fast, high quality, ahead of time and on budget, with *no* serious injuries or deaths and, that is A JOB WELL DONE INDEED !! David.
